On a Diplomatic Note

Few things are much more perilous, in global politics,
Than crazy nuclear powers getting up to crazy tricks.
When xenophobes, control freaks and the warlike in strange lands
Get launch codes and red buttons and such toys into their hands,
Before you've worked out where you are, the warheads may be flying,
With consequences that, for some, might prove a little trying.
From Libya through Iraq unto the new Afghani Raj,
The dangers in a lack of true deterrent are writ large;
And hence, amid new ratchetings of tension and of fear,
Some loony little country has been warned by North Korea.
